Women’s World needs to be changed.
Women world has always been struggling to get equality. No matter, where you are born and which professional you’re into - you’ve to struggle more than men.
Equality is being talked almost everywhere, but the house works is still a “Women Club” in many ways. History says men are less likely to be independent in the house works as if its meant for women.
Regardless of the position, she holds in the outside world, at home, she is always a second class citizen.
Ever wondered? Why? If the reason is women are more financially dependent than men.
Then, let’s not forget to count the unpaid work women do. On average, women spend 4.5 hours a day to do unpaid work which is more than 2 hours of what men do.
The list is not yet over. Let’s talk about women who are financially dependent. In India, women earn 62% of what men earn for performing the same work. Although, this pay gap is shrinking every year. I wonder why it is even there? Why does your gender decide your payroll? and How?
According to McKinsey, If women’s paid participation in the formal economy was equivalent to that of men, it would add $28 trillion or 26% to global GDP. The wage gap is not just affecting women, it’s also affecting the GDP. We really need to shrink the entire gaping faster.
Being a woman, every single thing I deal with, leaves me with WHY?
Why are we still fighting with the social norms and stereotypes mindset? Why are we getting less pay? Why we are always judged? Why house chores are only our responsibility? These are some of those numerous “WHY’S”.
With the never-ending duties, women always have a long to-do list in both the world - office and home. On average, men have 33.5 hours of free time per week which is 24.6 hours for women. Again a WHY? Even on weekends, where men and children relax, women work an average of six hours each day.
I strongly believe,” You get what you negotiate not what you deserve” and women are the worst negotiator on earth. Women do more unpaid work and they are paid less when they work. They deserve to be equal.
Women are performing at a super-human level where they are working equivalent to men in the outside world and more than a man at home level.
Women are working awfully hard to break the glass ceiling. They are coming out to explore the world of wonders but no one really bothers about her world of burdens. For every job she does to get paid, there’s always an unpaid job following her at home.
If we really wish to equalize the ratio and share her burden. We need to encourage men to help her at house works. She needs to feel relaxed and supported.
In the world full of advancement, her hurdles are still the same. We need to give her what she deserves not what she negotiate for.
